Making Jesus Jealous

The Lord is a jealous God.
But could we be making Him even more jealous?

These thoughts come to mind as we see some of us ministers of the gospel being driven in with ‘secret service agents’ jogging beside our ride.

How about having rows of greeters clapping for us as we make our way into the sanctuary? There could even be that extra ‘jara’ of flower petals being thrown on the floor. Which reminds me of an incident with one of my senior friends I had invited from the USA a few years ago. He told me he nearly tripped when this was done.
How about people kneeling down to talk to us? I’ve seen this happen with people my age or younger. I’m 57. I find it quite bewildering. How about gisting in the ‘green room’ while worship is going on? Why do the bios of invited ministers seem loftier than that of the Lord?

I must apply some balance here. We must honour each other and treat those whom we have invited to minister with respect and they should also be made comfortable. But we have to keep an eye on it being too much. I must also deliberately put a stop to excesses. Except I came in to the hall with a bag of rice, I really don’t need anyone to carry anything for me; not my bag, not my iPad.
It’s time to trim away some of these excesses so that we don’t get in the way of God’s glorious light.

I wonder if we are not sometimes celebrated more than the Author of our Faith. I wonder if Jesus isn’t jealous. I truly wonder
